Pavlovsk is probably the most elegant summer residence of Russian tzars.

The palace was created for Paul the 1st, who did not like baroque brightness and gold of Tsarskoye Selo.

The palace is called Italian villa in the North. Closely connected with surrounding landscape, it makes a unique ensemble with nature.

Constructed in classical style, the palace is unique by its refined decoration, variety of its chandeliers, furniture and porcelain. You will see furniture made by Roentgen, Jacob, Gambs; tea service presented to Paul and his spouse by Marie Antoinette; table service of 606 articles made specially for the palace. The collection of clocks of different epochs and countries is one of the gems of the palace.
