Novgorod - The New Town, an old Russian town in 200 km from St.Petersburg.

If you want to see authentic Russia, you should go there. The architecture, the rhythm of life, mentality, people' faces - everything is different.

Novgorod was first mentioned in the 9th century. In medieval Russia it was the strongest city-state with its own council, army and trade connections with European countries.

Novgorod is renown for its churches and frescoes. The oldest church, and the most famous one, is St.Sofia Cathedral, situated on the territory of Novgorod Kremlin. Opposite the Kremlin, on the other bank of Volkhov river, there is Yaroslavovo Dvorische (The Court of Yaroslavl), with numerous churches situated next to each other.

Visitors will have an opportunity to see Vitoslavlitsy - the museum of wooden architecture in 10-15 km from Novgorod. Wooden houses and churches of 15th - 19th centuries were taken from all over the Novgorod region to form this museum. Inside the houses one can see village furniture, vessel, objects of everyday life.

All this gives new understanding of the way of living in the countryside.
